I can feel it in the air, we're getting close to fireworks season, which in turn means it is getting close to the day is "acceptable" to wear red, white & blue! I'll admit it, I am a sucker for that color combination. So with Memorial Day as an excuse I seized the opportunity to make some red, white & blue goodies.

Changeable Necklaces
This tutorial gave me inspiration for making braided upcycled t-shirt necklaces. You basically braid, and braid, and braid some more until you have a long rope. You loosely wrap it around your neck until you get the length and layers you want, secure it, add a scrap of the same shirt to cover your stitches, and voila, you have a fabulous necklace!
So far I've made a grey one, a white one and a brown one. Basic, easy colors. Now comes the fun part, making pins/broaches to pin on to the necklace. Here are some shots of some fabric or ribbon flowers I've made. Enjoy!

Pirate Party
Willie is turning 3 and we're having a pirate party! My parents' backyard is all decked out with pirate ships, eye patches, and parrots. Undoubtedly, there will be more pictures later, but here is a sneak peek of some of the homemade goodies I've crafted for the party...

Braided Broach Necklace
I <3 black and grey. So after following this tutorial to make t-shirt yarn I had a big ol' ball of grey "yarn", and since my knitting skills are a work in progress, I wasn't sure what to do with it. Then I found this tutorial for making braided jersey necklaces, and knew just what to do with all that "yarn". Here are the results...
I braided, and braided, and braided until I had a long strand, and then looped it all together, and bam, a fabu necklace. Pinned on a ribbon broach, and off to work I go.

Tie Onesie
My in-laws, have a ton of grandchildren! Over 25, and now one great-grandson. Well, he is turning 1 this year, and I wanted to make him something. When I found this tutorial I knew exactly what I was going to make. Bought some fabric scraps at JoAnn's, and a package of onsies, and off I went. This is what the finished ones look like. PERFECT! He is going to be one stylin' little man!

For the Love of Felt
I love felt. It is perfect. Doesn't fray. Easy to get clean lines. And it is somewhat stable. This morning in preparation for Ann's party tonight I got out the glue gun, and finished some floral foam pins for all the girls. At that point the craft bug was bitting, so I sat down with some supplies and let my brain go crazy. The first thing I came up with is this felt cuff bracelet:
And I must say, I love it! A little stitching, a few buttons, and lots of felt! I know, it is a bit drab, but I wanted something that was wearable with a lot of outfits, and come on, black, gray and white are FABULOUS!
Once that was complete I thought I would try stitching a heart with Ann & Daniel's initials...
It turned out too cute...right??? Yeah, I see more of these in my future! Happy Saturday!

Another Creation
Inspired by this:
I made this:
I made this:
Love it! First I made one large flower, did some outline stitching. Added a center to it, and bam, one flower down. Then I did the white flower, added some yellow stiching, and a yellow center, and bam, flower number two. Then I added a felt rosette (love those babies!). And finally, I used some triangular scraps of felt which I glued to the back of a large green button, and bam, flower number four. Add a few buttons here and there, backed it with old jeans, and used t-shirt strips for the straps! Easy peasy lemon squeezy!
And in case you're interested, this is where I found my inspiration.

Makeup
My makeup routine! Foundation of some sort, I go for sheer coverage. Bronzer, this is a new thing, and I am liking it. Eye shadow, normally two shades, maybe three! Eye liner, today I went with a beachy bronze on the top, and lower lash line, then black to line the inner bottom and top lashes. Mascara, a must! Concealer, now, I do my eye makeup before concealer in case I make any mistakes and have to wipe away some stray mascara (which happens often). Then blush, and finally, powder to set everything, and gloss to finish it all off. Sorry the pics are so blah, I'll hopefully have a makeup re-do post someday, until then, LOVE YA!

Mother's Day Necklace
Good morning Mothers! Happy Mother's Day!
When Kelly's grandma passed away many of her things found a loving home at our place. Some of those things were scarves. One of which was a beautiful sea foam green scarf with roses on it, I fell in love with it the first time I saw it. When I got home that night and opened it up I saw it was in sad shape with snags, and tears, not sure what to do with it, I tucked it away in my closet. Well, yesterday, in preparation for Scott & Ivy's wedding I grabbed the scarf, a spool of thread, needle, and pin back and made a fabulous rose broach with a strip of it. Got many compliments, and so I decided to make a few more broaches which I will give to my mom and mother-in-law today, but for me, I made this fabulous necklace! Check it out.
Happy Mother's Day everyone! :)

Mother's Day Corsages
Mother's Day is tomorrow, and I have had these little beauties ready for weeks! I thought I would share them today, and the blog which gave me the inspiration to make them. Little Miss Momma's blog is wonderful! It is honest, crafty, raw, and full of goodies. In fact, the post she made showing how to make a pom pom bib necklace is what got me started on my current crafty kick. Below are my final product, but be sure to check out her necklace post, and all her other stuff, she is the bees knees!

Converse
I love, love, love my converse. I only own 3 pairs, but the 3 I currently own are well worn, and loved. One pair are basic black low tops. Another is red, black and off white, with (for lack of a better description) Converse "graffiti on it. And the 3rd appear to be basic black low tops at first glance, but look a little closer and you'll see the tongue is pink! I have been complaining a bit because my basic black pair are worn thin on the sole, and the fabric in the heel cup has disintegrated, but I haven't made an effort to get a new pair. That is partially due to not wanting to appear to be a "poser" with brand new, sparkly, All Stars, and partially I believe because these beauties were waiting for me to discover them...Converse Anderl Shoe. Check them out!!!
And because I can't resist a back story, my first paid of Converse were these...

I LOVE PINTEREST!
Not sure where I saw it first, I am thinking as a link on Tom Kat Studio's Blog. Or maybe I heard about it from Cara Crowley. Either way, I am here today to say, I am in love with Pinterest! It is a place I can post links to my favorite things. Whether they be makeup ideas, pretty pictures, or even funky wallpaper I would never buy, but love to look at and share! I am thinking each week I will have a "Pinterested Post" on my blog featuring a different chosen board. Stay tuned!

Maxi Dresses
Now that I have a "better" bod, I am all about the maxi dress! They can be casual, amped up, or covered with a cardi for the office. When I saw this link 24 Cheap Maxi Dresses by iVilliage I took the bait! My favorites are:
BUT...since I already bought this Hot Maxi from mark. / Avon, I guess I am set!

Michael's Trip
Went to Michael's on my lunch today and managed to pick up a couple of these Storage Containers for 40% off each! They say they're for scrapbook paper, but I am going to use them for felt / material storage! So excited. And Kelly might be too once he sees all my scraps put in one place tonight.
I also raided their clearance bins, that is the place to go first folks! I got some awesome Martha Stewart ribbon for $1, and found a couple of pacs of iron-on transfers for a steal! Of course every Michael's is going to have different items, but a through rummage through their selections is always a must.
And how can I leave this post without mentioning the big bag 'o buttons I now call my own! So excited!!!!
